We love sport at Landscove! We have a different extra-curricular club each term and attend as many tournaments and festivals as possible. This is all down to the hard work of Mrs Smart and the parents who volunteer to transport children to and from the events. Thank you!

Our commitment to sport at Landscove has led to us winning the Sainsburys School Games Gold award for the past academic year. Well done to all the children involved in different tournaments and competitions that have made this possible!

CLASS 4 – FRIDAY 13TH OCTOBER

SSP – YOUNG PLAY LEADERS SESSION                     Tuesday October 10th

TA – Tash & 4 x Y5/6 children

* We often start the day with an activity that requires the children to create a game with minimal space and equipment (cones and 1 ball). This helps the children to develop skills in resourcefulness and communication.

* “Play leaders should be / play leaders shouldn’t be” activity giving the children the opportunity to self-evaluate what they do well and what they need to work on.

* With the winter months fast approaching the children were given the opportunity to take part in different activities which could be taken back and used in their schools during wet play, this included simple games that could be played on a table e.g table pingpong and other various table top games. The children were also introduced to the just dance game which is accessed through youtube, providing hundreds of choreographed child friendly routines, which has proved to be a great hit at our school.

* After attending numerous YPL conferences I found that at the heart of it all, is the amazing staff that run it. They are extremely enthusiastic and experienced, offering a great depth of knowledge which I find that children benefit hugely from. Events like this are also great for staff members that attend as it allows them to learn and further their CPD, which in turn benefits all who participate.

CENTRAL VENUE SOCCER – ROUND 2

MONDAY OCTOBER 16TH

‘I was so proud of our footballers on Monday night – they all played with grit, determination and in a very sporting manner. They were led by a very good captain, Toby, who organised his team so well. We managed two 0-0 draws against strong opposition, South Brent and The Grove. This was largely due to Edgar who put in a spectacular display in goal! We also had two well-deserved wins with goals coming from Toby, Josh and Sam in those matches! Well done to the whole team ~ a great effort!’
