Classes 2 & 3 enjoyed meeting cultural champion Sandya Dave this week. Their Hinduism topic was brought alive by meeting someone who could share her beliefs and traditions first hand. The children learnt more about how the festival of Diwali is celebrated across the world and were shown photos of Sandya celebrating with her family. They had the opportunity to handle Hindu artefacts including diva lamps, dolls, spices, cards and gifts and took part in Hindu prayer (puja). They liked sharing and discussing what they had learnt about the story of Rama and Sita.   Additionally, Class 3 learned a traditional Hindu stick dance, remembering not only the stick actions but rotating around their circle too!
