Class 2 is made up of Year 1 and Year 2 children in a bright and well equipped classroom with stunning views across the Riverford fields. We are taught by Miss Berry Tuesday – Friday and by Mrs Ryder on Mondays. Mrs Drew and Miss Kearle are our teaching assistants. We like to link our subjects with a topic each term to make learning meaningful with local visits wherever possible. We like to make as much of our learning as practical as possible with apparatus, visual aids and lots of oral rehearsal before writing or recording to ensure we feel secure in our learning. We work with a ‘have a go’ attitude and treat making mistakes as a positive way of learning. We enjoy earning our golden time to do role play in the ever-changing playhouse, independent making and creating and free play on trikes, scooters and other equipment outdoors.

We spent a lovely day at Buckfast Abbey, enjoying three different storytelling workshops during their Storytelling Festival, which was part of their Millennium celebrations. We found a shady spot in the grounds for our lunch had fun with bubble popping to finish!

Here are some great action shots from the Mini Cricket Festival at South Devon Cricket Club!
“London’s burning, London’s burning, fetch the engine, fetch the engine, FIRE FIRE, FIRE FIRE, pour on water, pour on water.” What better way to end our Great Fire of London topic than to recreate a burning street in London using the model Tudor houses that we made. There were shrieks of excitement as the children watched their buildings burn, from a safe distance of course!
Class 1 and 2 enjoyed their visit to Theatre Royal Plymouth to see a performance of The Enormous Turnip. They met the characters and puppets after the show and waved them goodbye in their turnip caravan!
Happy New Year! 🙂
We loved World Book Day! Can you guess which characters we are?
Happy New Year! 🙂 What an amazing performance of our Christmas nativity “It’s a Baby!” The children wowed the audience with their angelic singing, brilliant acting and dancing on the Church stage.

We enjoyed our visit from the animal experts at Dartmoor Zoo! We learnt about animal classification and camouflage. We also had the chance to handle leaf bugs, a lizard and a snake!
